How to Change a Babies Diaper?

If you're a first-time parent, having a look at your frail newborn actually provokes joy. But having a look at its diaper might encourage a different emotion altogether. Changing a diaper isn't that complicated; it just needs practice and organization - and you could have masses of time for both.

First, prepare all of the supplies you will need as you must not leave your baby unattended for even a minute to snatch something you have forgotten. You will have to do this in a secure place, for example a changing table or bed, and prepare the surface with a changing pad or other material. Have available a clean diaper, wet wipes or warms facecloth, and a belch material. Optional, but useful items, include baby powder, lotion, or diaper rash lotion. Here is the process for throwaway diapers: First, lay the baby down on the safe surface.

If employing a changing table, you can engage the safety straps. Pre-open the clean diaper and have it close by. Ensure that the wet wipes are showing thru the opening in the container. Take away the baby's clothes and the fouled diaper. You may then place a belch fabric over the lower part of the baby (particularly if a boy) to help stop getting sprayed by any accidents. Clean the diaper area with the warm cloth or wet wipes, being sure to wipe from front to back.

Move the legs around carefully to be very sure to get into all of the skin folds, and do not forget the back. Delicately lift the baby's legs up and slide the back of the clean diaper beneath (the back is the side with the tape tabs), leaving the front hanging. Apply any further products that your physician has directed (lotion, powder, balm, for example.). Now pull the front of the diaper up, and use one hand to gradually hold it in effect. With the other hand, pull on a tape tab and bring it around to the front of the diaper, repeating on the opposite side. Ultimately, check the diaper isn't too tight by seeing if you can fit 2 fingers in the top front of the diaper.

Get baby dressed again - and get ready to do the entire thing over in about 2 hours! The process for material diapers is basically the same, but you will need to pre-fold the fabric diaper before making an attempt to do a diaper change. Also remember that if you're not using diapers designed for newborns (with a cut-out along the waistband) you need to fold down the front part of the diaper to permit the bellybutton to cure. And while you might think something as tiny and sweet as your baby could never do you harm, the reality is that changing diapers IS an unclean process - you will need to wash your hands after changing her diaper, or keep a bottle of hand sanitizer at the changing station.
